2005 – 2006 BSRA CITY "B" – LEAGUE RULES
1. Ball: Dunlop XX Yellow Dot.
2. Teams: All players must be members of the BSRA. Each team shall consist of 3 players.
3. Playing Rules: Standard USSRA rules apply. Note: Eye Guards Are Mandatory!
4. Match Date: Players will arrive for matches at 6:30 P.M on Thursday nights at the appointed location. If someone cannot play on Thursday and a BSRA member sub cannot be arranged, then the person unable to play on Thursday will be declared the loser by default. In the past this has been loosely applied, and if teams are willing to accommodate each other by rescheduling a match, that’s fine. But most teams have a good supply of subs this year, so I encourage their use. If there is a dispute over rescheduling matches, the official rule will apply.
5. Match Organization: Each captain is responsiable for lining up a 3 person team for each week’s match. By Thursday at noontime, the home team captain is to notify the captain of the visiting team of any line-up shifts (due to intra-squad challenges or illness or injury, for example) for his 3 players; if no problems are discussed, all players are expected to be at the appointed club on the appointed day at 6:30 P.M. If there is a problem for an individual player for a particular week, get a sub (Remember that the line-up must remain in order of playing ability; if #2 can't play, then #3 moves to #2, #4 to #3, etc.).
Team captains have the discretion to cancel a match due to bad weather and they are responsible for rescheduling the match at a later date.
6. Default: If a player fails to arrive for a match, that player defaults the match. Period.
7. Score Reporting: The winning team captain is to report its scores to Phil Scaffidi (preferably by e-mail at pscaffidi@lglaw.com, or alternatively by phone H:885-5101, W: 849-1308, Cell: 471-3155) by the following Sunday. My goal is to e-mail each weeks results out on Monday. Hopefully, this will promote intra-squad challenges during the week.
8. Schedule & Playoffs: The schedule is such that each team plays every other team twice; the league team champion will be deternmined by playoffs. In the event of a tie at the end of regular season play, head-to-head competition will determine final standings.
The playoffs are currently schedule to begin on Thursday, Feburary 16, 2005. The team with the highest seed will have home court advantage during the playoffs and league championship.
Please note that all players must have played one regular season league match to be elagiable to participate in the league playoffs.

City "D" Softball League
2005-2006 Season
Rules, Rosters & Schedule
I. Organization/Rules:
1. Ball: Dunlop XX Yellow Dot.
2. Teams: All players must be members of the BSRA. Each team shall consist of 5 players.
3. Playing Rules: Standard USSRA rules apply. Eye Guards are Mandatory!
4. Match Date: Players will arrive for matches at 6:30 p.m. (ALERT: matches at the T&S cannot start before 7:00 p.m.) on Wednesday nights at the appointed location. If someone cannot play Wednesday, and a sub cannot be arranged, then the person unable to play Wednesday will be declared the loser by default.
5. Match Organization: At the beginning of each week, each team captain lines up 5 players for each match. By Tuesday afternoon, the team captain notifies the captain of the opposing team of any line-up shifts (due to intra-squad challenges or illness or injury, for example) for his 5 players; if no problems are discussed, all players are expected to be at the appointed club on the appointed day at 6:30 p.m. (ALERT: 7:00 p.m. at the T&S) If there is a problem for an individual for a particular week, get a sub (Remember that the line-up must remain in order of playing ability; if #2 can't play, then #3 moves to #2, #4 to #3, etc.).
Whenever a match is scheduled between a team with international courts and a team without international courts, the match will be played at the site with the international courts, even in the playoffs.
6. Default: If a player fails to arrive for a match, that player defaults the match. Period.
7. Score Reporting: The winning team (but, in reality, I’ll take scores from anyone) is to report its scores to George Kloepfer (e-mail - gkloepfer@nicholsschool.org.; w. 876-3500 ext. 577, h. 833-4066,) on Thursday of match week. As the goal is to e-mail the week’s results and up-to-date standings to team captains (and players for whom I have e-mail addresses) on Friday, it is important to keep to these deadlines. Our standings will include not only wins and loses but also defaults. Teams will receive 2 points for each individual match won; teams will lose a point for each defaulted match. Let’s work extremely hard to eliminate all defaults this season; it can be done with a little forethought and planning.
The schedule is such that each team plays every other team once; the league team champion will be determined by playoffs. In the event of a tie, head-to-head competition will determine final standings. In the semifinals (Feb. 8), the 1st place team will host the 4th place team, and the 2nd place team will host the 3rd place team. The finals will be played on Feb. 15 at the international courts of the highest remaining seed.
